**Profile of Avi Scher & Dancers in Art Times Journal**

Avi Scher & Dancers was formed in August of 2008 by emerging choreographer, Avichai Scher. His mission is to build a new audience for neo classical and contemporary ballet by presenting top quality dancers and new works, in small venues.

In November 2008, the company performed No Matter What at HATCH in NYC, the only contemporary ballet piece on the program. In May of 2009 the company brought Mystery in the Wind to the 92nd Street Y, and on June, 26, 2009 danced its first full evening of work at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out. The program included premiers by Avichai Scher  and Val Caniparoli’s Aquilarco. The cast featured 14 dancers including principals from New York City Ballet and Boston Ballet.
